Last Hurrah!

Note:  New pix in Matakana Album

Bright sunshine and blue skies.  What a welcome sight for our last full day. We threw a wash in while we walked down to the beach with Joe.  We took the long way home through the rain forest.  This is a really lovely spot.  Got back to the house, hung the wash, and headed for Goat Island.  We had heard the snorkeling here was really good.

Well, apparently we are far too spoiled because we really didn't think that much of it.  Luckily we got there before the masses, and were able to get in the water.  But the place really started to fill up - it was Saturday afternoon and Goat Island is only an hour outside of Auckland.  There is not much real estate around to hang out on - so we decided to go to Mattheson Bay where Joe had took us in the morning.  It was pretty quiet and we picked a nice spot under a tree, read our books and chilled.

Eventually it was time to bite the bullet and go back to repack.  Never thought we would get all this stuff back into our bags.  The car was filled with crap we kept buying along the way.  Not big stuff but it all adds up.  We organized the bags so that we would only have to deal with opening one up on the boat.  Thank you again Lucy for the bag.  It was a real joy when we found out it could expand. So we are all packed and ready for our next adventure.

Tonight it is just the two of us for dinner.  We went down to the Sandspit and had a lovely last night meal overlooking the water.  It was the perfect way to end our New Zealand vacation.

Next time... Fun in Fiji
